Black Hair Ology recently had the opportunity to sit down with Rhonda Ray an entrepreneur and founder of the multi city Afrolicious Hair Expo. Read below as Rhonda shares some of her experiences in the hair industry.
How long have you been running your Afrolicious Hair Expo tour?
For 6 years this will be the 7th year.
How did you get started in the hair care industry?
I started in the Hair care industry because of my love of Natural Hair. I wanted to create an event that celebrated natural black beauty by bringing together like minded ladies with similar Kinky curly hair.
What are the challenges of running a hair expo?
It’s a lot of fun but one of the challenges is getting the word out and coming up with different and creative ways to spread the word about the events. You hate to hear a naturalista say “I didn’t know about the event until it had past” lol.
As an Entrepeneur what is it the most important thing you have learned through your experiences?
I’ve learn that if you set your mind to doing something, you can do it. All you have to do is Set the date and go after it one step at a time. The first step will lead you to the next and before you know it you have accomplished your goal. Another important thing I’ve learned is when a woman wears her natural beauty with confidence, others will feel the same way about it.
When people come to an Afrolicious event what can they expect?
When you come to an Afrolicious Hair event, you can expect a good time where we celebrate, demonstrate and educate women on their natural hair and beauty.
