Black Hair history: “Dreadlocks”

“Dreadlocks” came to be after an Ethiopian leader was put into exile for leading a resistance against an Italian invasion. Ethiopian warriors pledged not to cut their hair until Haile Selassie was released from exile.
Eventually their hair locked together and became matted – that’s how the term “Dreadlocks” was born.
